Acceptable use

Penny is built for teachers and education professionals. You agree to use Penny lawfully, respectfully, and only for purposes that support teaching and learning. Please don't use Penny to harass others, store unlawful content, or attempt to access information that isn't yours.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the information you add to Penny — including learner names, assessment results and any notes you record. You confirm that you have the right to store this information in line with your school's policies and applicable law.

Beta software

Penny is currently in beta. That means it's stable enough for daily use, but features will change and the occasional bug is part of the journey. We'll always communicate significant changes ahead of time.

Penny is provided during beta on an "as is" basis. We can't guarantee that every feature will be available without interruption.

Account security

Please keep your sign-in details private. Let us know straight away if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

Intellectual property

The Penny name, design, software and content are owned by Penny Teacher. You keep full ownership of the marks, assessments and class information you create inside Penny.

Service availability

We aim for Penny to be available whenever you need it. From time to time we may carry out planned maintenance, and very occasionally there may be unplanned downtime.

Limitation of liability

Penny is a teaching assistant — it supports your professional judgement, it doesn't replace it. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Penny Teacher is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service.

Pricing after the beta

Penny is free during the beta. When we introduce paid plans, beta teachers will receive fair notice and a permanent early-adopter discount as a thank you for helping shape Penny.

Ending your account

You can close your Penny account at any time from inside the app, or by emailing us. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of South Africa, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
